How to Order Bees
We handle hundreds of packages every spring, and our process is designed to ensure the health of the bees and the success of the beekeeper.
Order Early
We typically begin taking reservations in late winter.
Secure Your Colony
Full payment is required to reserve your bees. We accept Cash, Check, and all major Credit Cards.
Local Pickup Only
To ensure the safety of the livestock, we do not ship bees. All orders must be picked up at our shop in Lincoln.
Stay Informed
We notify all customers via email and Facebook as soon as our transport leaves California. Please ensure we have your current phone number and email address.
Available Varieties
We offer 3-lb packages of honeybees, which include a young, healthy, mated Queen.
Italian Bees
Known for being prolific honey producers and having a gentle temperament, making them a favorite for beginners.
Carniolan Bees
Excellent at wintering in Nebraska’s fluctuating climate and quick to build up their population in the spring.
Buckfast Bees
Developed for their exceptional gentleness and strong honey production, Buckfast bees are a hardy, disease-resistant choice that thrives in varied weather conditions.
Marked Queens
For easier hive management, you can request your queen be marked for a small additional fee (must be ordered in advance).
The Seasonal Timeline (Typical)
While exact dates are dependent on California weather and transport conditions, our schedule generally follows this pattern:
First shipment of packages (approx. 900 available).
Second shipment of packages and individual Queens.
Nuc (Nucleus Colony) availability (when applicable).
The “Package Day” Policy
To ensure the safety of our live bees and the efficiency of our spring deliveries, all equipment and supply orders must be received and finalized prior to package pickup day. > Please Note: We are unable to pull or assemble supply orders on bee delivery days. We encourage all beekeepers to have their hives built and gear ready before their bees arrive.
