Everything You Need to Succeed
At Valhalla Bee Farm, we don’t just sell equipment—we sell the exact tools we use in our own apiaries. Whether you are a hobbyist starting with your first two hives or a seasoned beekeeper managing a large-scale operation, we provide professional-grade gear tested for the Nebraska climate.
We carry a full inventory of supplies for every stage of the beekeeping year:
- Protective Gear: Full suits, veils, and gloves. Essential for safety and confidence, especially during your first few seasons.
- Hive Components: Langstroth hive bodies, bottom boards, covers, and frames.
- The Harvest: Fume Boards, Bee Go, Bee Escapes, Bee Escape Boards, and uncapping tools.
- Maintenance & Health: Smokers, hive tools, and Varroa mite treatment options (the #1 threat to hive health).
Seasonal Care and Feeding
Beekeeping doesn’t end with the summer harvest. We stock specialized feed to help your “hungry girls” survive the winter:
- Winter Patties: High-carbohydrate feed to keep the colony robust during the foliage die-off.
- Fall Feeding Supplies: Feeders and syrups to ensure your hives are “heavy” enough to withstand the cold.
The Getting Started Guide
Based on our years of experience in the field, we recommend the following for new beekeepers:
Starting Hive Count
Start with two hives. This allows you to compare health and share resources (like brood or eggs) if one hive becomes weak.
Initial Investment
Expect a setup cost of $1,300 to $2,000 for high-quality equipment and your first colonies.
The "Nuc" Advantage
While we sell packages, we highly recommend Nucleus Colonies (Nucs). They are established units with a laying queen and brood already working together.
Protective Clothing
Always start with a full suit. As your confidence and “bee-sense” grow, you can adjust, but safety is our first priority.
